Once again, you, our wonderful community, have come out in droves to support a project that is near and dear to our hearts here at the Co-op. Hundreds of people took a name off our holiday giving tree some took more than one child, some took many names and returned on the appointed date with beautifully-wrapped gifts and heartfelt wishes for our community's children in need. There were all sorts of little miracles that occurred during the time the giving tree was up. Many of you really went all out for these children, not just purchasing one gift on their ornament wish list, but them all, each beautifully wrapped, boxed up or put in a large Co-op shopping bag like a packed-full holiday stocking. Then too there was the big hearted family man, who bought ten CD players for all the teens that remained on the tree that wanted one. Or the woman who showed up on the day of the deadline with a handful of $50 gift certificates for any child who might remain unclaimed. Thanks to John Simmons for carting the gifts from Co-op to Co-op with such care, so that no wrapping would tear and all ornaments stayed attached to the appropriate gifts. And thanks too, to all the other Co-op staffers and community folks who helped make this project a success. You know who you are! From the bottom of our Co-op hearts we thank you. We know all the agencies are thrilled with this outpouring, and once again the Co-op community has shown its true spirit and great heart, producing an enormous blessing for our entire community. Thank you, thank you, thank you again this year for another "little mountain" of gifts! |
